We have made it to Autumn 2020! I mean, how fast is this bizarre year going? Since my last blog, I have entered my 30s and we are now in a new Season! Is this real life?!

I have been worrying about how to approach a new blog and style subscription after going AWOL as I wanted my return to have even more purpose than ever before. I have thoroughly missed my Monday blog days and receiving your feedback on a regular basis. I have actually been feeling very guilty about it! But prosecco at the ready - I am back to weekly style updates. I think the pressure has meant I have been procrastinating like mad and making my return harder! At the end of the day… If I can’t release a new blog when a new style season begins, when can I? So, thank you to each and everyone of you for your patience and continued support.

There are SO many amazing new trends right now, it is such an exciting time of year. Lots of my clients mention that they struggle with figuring them out, or how to introduce them into their own style. Some even dislike most of the new trends and that’s ok (Lets be honest – some of them are MAD) – I don’t love each and every single new trend of the Season. That’s the beauty of being a personal stylist in London, I can appreciate the new styles whilst understanding what trend will work perfectly for each of my clients and where to shop for them.

So, here are my standout trends for AW20 and the latest high Street brands who are nailing them this week!

My number one trend for Autumn, and it comes to no surprise to all of you that know me, is head to toe Red (I secretly hope it’s the next Pantone colour of the year) Red is the colour that brings you energy. You know when you wake up and know you need to nail your day but need a big boost? Red is your girl! Without us knowing, when we wear red our brain recognizes it and send physiological messages to our brain that gives us a natural energy boost. Perfect for this changing season or if we are experiencing new periods in our lives. Also, a great third date colour if you know what I mean…

Meet the Maje (pronounced Marge, like Homer Simpons wife) red dress of dreams (not for the petite ladies I'm sorry but I couldn't resist showing it) and the & Other Stories cardi of heaven. Cardis are making a strong comeback at being cool again thanks to the trend of wearing them buttoned up with nada underneath. Not your bag? Check out my other selections too!

The second trend I can’t get enough of is Balloon sleeves which carries over from this summers puff sleeves trend. British brand Kitri leads the way and shows us how it's done, this dress also incorporates the volume trend so it’s an absolute double winner, plus it can be worn all year round. & another stories strikes again with this mini dress, which is made for the long-legged lasses out there! I can't stop staring at the lush sleeves. If a dress is a step too much, make sure you treat yourself to a stunning top to join in with the trend.

Next up is Fringing, which is SO damn cool, I recommend immediately buying this Next fringed bag – it’s an absolute steal, and if you need a new jacket this year head straight over All Saints (an overlooked incredible brand) for a fringed version. Check out my other top recommendations too. I can so see myself wearing it all next Summer too.

The leather trend, perhaps the marmite trend of this year. The leather coat compared to the usual jacket says 'I have my act together' more than any other leather or pleather pieces. It is effortless. Leather coats take the headline but if they aren't your thing, the classic leather jacket will keep you bang on-trend and Zara and HM come out top trumps right now. Promise me that it fits your shoulders and waist perfectly to really transform your leather style this year.

Finally, Volume - this trend is the perfect balance of feminine and sexy. Maje shows us how this is done with the most exquisite dress which can take you from work to the bar (until 10 pm)  and if you are a jeans and a nice top kinda gal The Kooples have your back with this voluminous little number! Carrie Bradshaw eat your heart out. Ruffles, puffer style, netting, anything goes. I have an inkling it’s here to stay too. If you can’t get on board with it straight away, try a ruffled jacket and take it from there. Fab boho vibes too!

So many people feel worried about approaching a stylist for lots of very valid reasons. It is totally understandable as you are putting yourself in a vulnerable, personal and unknown situation. Some people think we will simply ask them just follow trends and lose their personality and I can assure you it is quite the opposite of that. Its about your own personal style, reflecting who you are on the outside, so the world knows who you are without having to speak. To me, that’s a superpower. Dressing should be a joy and something you look forward to. Opening your wardrobe shouldn’t feel stressful or something you internally groan about, it’s an extension of who you are, even when It comes down to the latest trends!

Let me know what you think and which trend is your favourite and if you’d like some moral support with your autumn wardrobe, get in touch for a complimentary style session, I’d love to hear from you

Stylish wishes as ever,

Sian x
