Staycation Style

Last year ‘Staycations’ were all the rage! Stress-free breaks without the airport delays and luggage dramas… What we wouldn’t all do for that chaos or to even have that choice now hey? Holiday wardrobes are SUPER FUN, it brings back previous lazy, hazy days basking in sunshine, or one too many mojitos by the pool with endless giggles.

We seem to all feel more confident to wear more colour and experiment with new styles when on holiday, I still can’t work out why but I can tell you that every ‘holiday’ wardrobe I see, pack or curate, is so much more daring than our week and weekend wardrobes. I LOVE them. Perhaps it’s because we think ‘no one I know will see me here’ or it’s the influence of being surrounded by a beautiful new culture but I so wish we could carry on the confidence all year round.

So, to kick-start this confidence for you, this week I have been searching for stunning pieces that you can wear here when on ‘Staycation’ but they still give you that holiday buzz! They are more elevated in style and trend so that you can continue that holiday feeling throughout the whole summer. I have created a whole mood-board over on Moonsift, which you can see here, but my top five are coming right up!

The ‘Staycation day dress’

Head to toe print and a little less fabric than normal is the brief for your staycation day dress. A floral is a great print to start with if you are new to pattern, they are so easy on the eye and beautifully feminine. They work particularly well on dresses that show off more skin than you are used to as they give off a playful and elegant vibe rather than dead sexy. You can dress this up with heels or even wear your trainers… Its an absolute Staycation essential.

The ‘Staycation jumpsuit’

Play with a new fabric like this trendy satin. I always size up with Satin as it doesn’t have much give but it feels so wonderful on your skin its irresistible! This particular jumpsuit will cinch you in at the waist and the stunning V neck is super flattering for all bodyshapes. Id go for hair up and big earrings in the evenings and a denim jacket and white boots in the daytime. With a shape like this it can also be worn during Autumn with a turtle neck and leather jacket.

The ‘Staycation going out out dress’

The perfect date night or cocktails with the girls starts with this dress made of a combination of silk, satin and a finishing of a shimmery metallic. It feels sensational on the skin and this style must be worn with a belt unless you have the slender body shape. Wear with open and strappy sandals and a red headband for a final flourish. The ultimate dancing on the kitchen table dress. I can also imagine this as a Christmas dress with a fur coat draped over…

The ‘Staycation statement bag’

Bright, light and bold is the way to go for your summer bag. This particular bag will go with all three looks I have pulled for this blog. You can put your bikini and sunglasses in for the beach and if you take it in the evening you can pop your camera and flat shoes in. If the colour is too much I recommend a metallic, its way trendier than a tan or neutral but does the same trick.

The ‘Staycation mules’

Mules are such and underrated shoe, they are so much funkier than normal flats and never rub your heels like some sandals can. Like the bag, they will work with both of the dresses and jumpsuit – so versatile! You can explore all day and dance all night in them. If you have a little one that you need to run after, opt for a sling-back version so you don’t have a cinderella moment!
