How to wear EVERYTHING you own

Sian-4.jpg

Yes, it is possible to wear everything you have in your wardrobe (obvs not at the same time unless you're doing a Joey in friends) Here are my five wardrobe rules to help you make the most of what you own.

Organise –

Check out this blog on how to organise your wardrobe if you haven’t already, once it is coordinated, make sure you wear the item that is at the front of the section. Then when it has been washed, put it at the back of the right compartment/section so it constantly carousels. Remember, front to back, and repeat!  Think clueless without the mechanics. If you find yourself skipping the same thing over and over again, it may be time to say goodbye! (Unless its because it’s the wrong season to be wearing it, don’t get rid)

Make sure you LOVE it -

If it’s something you are keeping to ‘get back in to’ that just makes you feel crap when you see it there hanging in your wardrobe, I really recommend getting rid of and buying a new version that makes you feel fabulous. Again as previously mentioned, if you keep skipping it or feel meh in it….bye byeeee.

Rotate rotate rotate –

This is so important that I am re-writing it here, if you are guilty of just chucking clean stuff willy nilly back into your wardrobe, you’re just going to wear the same things. Plus it’s so stressful to look at, we don’t want extra stress in our lives. What about the beautiful printed blouse you find stuck underneath all of the things you wear all the time? You don’t want to forget about your gorgeos clothing! Plus, you won’t feel motivated to experiment and play with your style and that is the key to keeping the fire alive with your clothing. Think of it as adult dressing up!

Remember the versatility of the pieces –

Everything in your wardrobe should go with at LEAST three other things you own. (Remember to buy with intention) For example, your leather jacket will go with everything, your suede jacket will go with all things leather and…everything, your denim jacket will go with…everything, your blazer will work with…wait for it… everything so rotate the jackets you wear to get the most out of them and keep your style looking fresh and that will also keep your inspiration at its best too. Don’t forget about your shoes either!

Side note…Special occasion pieces – if they are separates eg a skirt and a nice top, I bet you can re style them with more casual pieces you already own to maximize the wear out of them. For example, your fancy top, a blazer, and jeans, and trousers. Your posh skirt with a classic T, denim jacket, and mules…

Weekly Style Guide.jpg

Schedule –

Follow a weekly outfit plan to make sure you get through every piece you own. It could be as simple as the following below or feel free to screenshot and use my example as your very own guide! Obvs change it to suit your wardrobe, but you get the gist!

Monday – Jumpsuit/Long dress

Tuesday – Wide leg trouser / jeans alternative

Weds – Skirt and T

Thursday – Leather leggings and cosy knit/blouse

Friday – Midi or mini dress

Sat – Leather skirt and T

Sunday – Jeans and a nice top!

I’m not naturally logical (trust me) but with our clothes, once we have organised, cleansed and revamped, it is SO easy to keep on top of! It is so much fun and a great thing to do to keep you away from screens and have some you time!

Stylish wishes as always,

Sian x
