Prosecco in the park style

Outfits are BACK - Prosecco in the park style is ON. Three sleeps and we get to be surrounded by 5 glorious friends outside… But… what on earth do you wear? It’s a pretty chilly March so far with volatile weather, to say the least, and until you get your prosecco/coffee blanket, you’re likely to be pretty nippy.

It’s going to be incredibly special to reunite with your friends after such a long time and you will want to feel and look great right? Shivering isn’t a great look and let’s talk about the elephant in the room… what if the loos are gross and you have to squat or even worse dare, I say it, you have to do a wild wee?! That really calls for some serious outfit planning…

Breaking it down we need to feel and look great, be cozy and warm and it needs to be practical in case nature calls… What a DRAMA!

I’ll start with telling you what to avoid… I don’t think it even needs any explanation but please please don’t put yourself through the pain of wearing the following…

A jumpsuit… (wild wee, just no)

Boiler suit… (as above LOL)

Tight trousers with no stretch (painful digging in)

Really floaty skirt/dress (wind/wild wee)

Short and tight skirts (sitting down is mega un-comfortable)

Cropped trousers (cold ankles…the worst)

Heels (grass dramas)

Now we have tackled the no way Jose outfits… its time for the great pieces!

The simple secret to staying warm, is LAYERS and that applies for whether you are a dress or trouser and cute top kinda gal’ Ill talk you through both and you can decide for yourself which option you want to try out first!

Dress style 101

Start with a cami or Uniqlos heattech vest. I’d then recommend a long-sleeved top (roll neck for the absolute win) which can be worn under your dress. Go for some thick tights, 80-100 denier or woolen if you like them. If you despise tights, I really recommend some leather leggings as they will add a bit of edge and elevate your style. I vote leather/pleather leggings, All Saints, Coras get my vote, over tights with most outfits tbh.

Then pop your gorge dress on. Here you can either pull over a big cosy chunky knit, belt it to cinch it in so we can still see your silhouette (or chose a cropped one) If you don’t like a chunky knit, chose a finer knit cardi, there are some beautiful wrap version or boxy/cropped styles around at the moment which will work wonderfully over your dress.

Now it’s time for the least stylish but most practical tip I will ever give (I can’t believe I am about to write this…) Treat yourself to a gilet and OMG they are a bloomin’ game-changer I swear! You can hide them under your coat. I read somewhere ages ago that if your body is warm you are more likely to stay warm all over so pull on your fave coat and no one will know! Then if you get too hot from prosecco…or coffee you can take off your gilet, have a giggle about it, and remove any other layers you need. Just don’t forget a blanket to sit on! Or you can cuddle up under it if it’s really freezing!!

Jeans and a nice top style…

Stick to the thermal or cami, and long sleeve/roll neck trick. Then you can pop on your fave blouse. If you like a pussy-bow blouse this will be perfect as you can see the detail come out over your jacket. If you are naturally cold you could reach for some tights (check the weather app before to see though as we should be praying for sunshine now!) I recommend some jeans with stretch in, Levi 721s are great. Make sure they are high-waisted so when you sit down you feel all tucked in. If like me, you hate jeans, chose a tapered or wide-leg trouser and tuck everything in for longer legs and warmth. Now you could copy the cosy chunky jumper as above or put on a swanky blazer/leather jacket over your shirt. Super smart casual nailed. Then…. Its gilet, blanket, and coat time… and the delayering can begin once you have warmed up!

Shoes wise…opt for some chunky or biker boots or your trainers. I love a pair of high-top converse or even your Doc Martens. All of these shoes will keep your feet warm and handle the mud, public toilets, or if you accidentally end up in a puddle or need to hide in a bush for earlier mentioned necessities…

Voila! You are now covered for all situations and scenarios. All you have to do now is have the BEST reunions with your fave five.

Have fun, stay safe, layer up and let me know how you get on.

Stylish wishes as always,

Sian xxx
