The Ultimate Wedding Guest Guide
What to Wear to Tash & Connor’s Wedding:
We are SO excited that you are getting ready to plan what to wear for THE wedding of the year!!!
We want choosing your outfit to be super fun and not stressful, we’ve put together this little guide to help you find your perfect high-energy, disco-dancing wedding outfit.
We’d love you to enjoy the whole process — choosing your outfit, accessorising it, getting ready and then, most importantly, wearing the absolute hell out of it on the day.
This guide is purely here to help and give you some direction. It is not here to stress you out! We’ve all got loads of time to get prepped, so grab yourself a little drink, snuggle down and have a read before you start your outfit hunt.
We’re going to talk you through the colours we LOVE, the colours we’d prefer you to avoid, the fabrics and textures that will work beautifully, and the silhouettes that will suit the vibe of the day.
We’ll also show you plenty of visual YES and NO examples, because sometimes seeing it is MUCH easier than trying to explain it!
And of course, we’ll be sharing some tips on how to accessorise your outfit and some brilliant brands to have a look at across different budgets, styles and silhouettes.
Most importantly, we want you to feel AMAZING.
We want you to look in the mirror and think, “Bloody hell, I love this.”
Because that is the whole point.
First things first: THE VIBE
This is not a beige, understated wedding.
We are going for high energy, colourful, fun, fabulous and disco-dancing.
We want you to dress up. We want personality. We want colour. We want texture. We want statement outfits.
And we absolutely want you to reflect YOU.
Please don't feel like you need to buy something completely outside your usual style just because it’s a wedding. If you're normally a jumpsuit girl, wear a jumpsuit. If you love a suit, wear a suit. If you feel incredible in a dramatic maxi, GO FOR IT.
We want you to reflect your personality through your outfit and show up as the absolute legend that you are.
So let's make this nice and simple...
COLOUR: THE YES LIST
WE WANT COLOUR!
Think bold, bright, strong and joyful.
We're talking:
Pink
Orange
Coral
Turquoise
Purple
Bright greens
Sunflower yellow
Jewel tones
Bold colour combinations
Strong, vibrant shades
We also LOVE the idea of mixing colours.
You absolutely do not need to find a dress, shoes and bag that are all the same colour. In fact, sometimes a bit of colour clashing is exactly what an outfit needs.
If you'd like help with mixing colours check out my colour blog here
More colour. More personality. More fun.
And don't forget the bridesmaid colours...
Our gorgeous bridesmaids will be wearing sage green, butter yellow, champagne and gold, so please keep that in mind when choosing your outfit.
We want everyone to look amazing together without looking like we've all been ordered from the same catalogue or one of the bridesmaids haha.
COLOUR: THE NO LIST
There are a few colours we'd love you to leave at home for this one.
Please avoid:
Black
Navy
Brown
Beige
Taupe
Grey
White
Ivory
Red
Very dark colours
Very muted neutrals
Blue
This is simply because we want to create a really specific visual feel for the wedding — colourful, bright, energetic and full of personality.
So if you're standing in front of your wardrobe thinking, “Should I just wear my trusty black dress?”
The answer for this one is no, gorgeous. Put the black dress back.
PRINTS: PLEASE GIVE THEM A MISS
This one is nice and simple.
No prints please!
When we say prints, we mean patterns on the fabric, such as:
Florals
Polka dot
Leopard print
Geometric patterns
Abstract prints
Illustrations
Tie-dye
Patterned dresses
Instead, we want the colour, fabric, texture and silhouette of your outfit to create the impact.
And don't worry — there are SO many ways to make a plain-coloured dress feel incredible without a print.
FABRICS & TEXTURES: BRING ON THE FUN
This is where you can really have some fun.
We LOVE:
Satin
Plain
Silk
Feathers
Crepe
Sequins
Metallics
Ruffles
Ruched fabrics
Embroidery
Beautiful textures
Shiny fabrics
Interesting detailing
Basically, if it catches the light when you're dancing, we're mega interested.
Texture is your friend.
A simple block-colour dress in a gorgeous satin, for example, can look far more interesting than a heavily patterned dress.
And sequins and sparkle?
Well... yes
It's a disco wedding. Obviously.
SHAPE & SILHOUETTE
Now let's talk about the shape of your outfit.
Again, we want you to have fun with this. We don't want everyone turning up in the same style of dress.
YES PLEASE!
We LOVE:
Maxi dresses
Midi dresses
Jumpsuits
Co-ords
Suits
Asymmetric styles
Strapless styles
Backless styles
Statement silhouettes
Interesting sleeves
Beautiful necklines
Embroidery and detailing
Cool, interesting shapes
If it feels special, fun, and dressed up, we're interested.
NO THANKS
For this wedding, please avoid:
Mini dresses
Very short dresses
Shorts
Corset
Cut-outs
No mid Drift out
Seethrough fabric
Deep plunging necklines
Anything excessively revealing
Anything that feels more suited to a night out than a wedding
Basically, we're going for wedding guest fabulous, rather than “I'm meeting the girls at the Slug & Lettuce at 9pm.”
LOL.
We absolutely want you to feel sexy and confident, but we're aiming for elevated, fabulous and occasion-appropriate.
OK, I'VE GOT THE OUTFIT... NOW WHAT DO I DO WITH THE ACCESSORIES?
This is where you can really elevate your look.
You have a few options.
MATCH IT
You can keep things tonal and match your shoes and bag to the colour of your outfit.
Simple. Chic. Easy.
Or...
CLASH IT!
A contrasting shoe or bag can make an outfit feel much more fashion-forward and interesting.
Don't be scared of colour.
GO METALLIC
Metallics are your BEST FRIEND.
Gold, silver and other metallic finishes are a really easy way to make an outfit feel more elevated.
A metallic shoe, bag, belt or jewellery can add that little bit of sparkle without you needing to completely rethink your outfit.
And, of course, if you're wearing something with a lot of colour, metallic accessories can be a brilliant way to finish the look without adding yet another colour into the mix.
JEWELLERY: A FEW EASY RULES
If you're wearing your hair up, this is your opportunity to go for big earrings.
Long earrings, statement earrings, sparkly earrings — go for it.
If you've got an open neckline and want to wear a necklace, take inspiration from the shape of the neckline.
Round neckline? Try a rounded necklace.
V neckline? A V-shaped pendant can work beautifully.
Square neckline? Try something with a more angular shape.
And if you've got a really high neckline?
You probably don't need a necklace at all.
Let the earrings do the talking.
Remember: you don't need to accessorise every single part of your body.
Sometimes one brilliant statement piece is enough.
MORE IMPORTANT STYLE TIPS:
We want you dancing, eating, drinking and having the absolute time of your life.
So make sure you can actually move in your outfit.
And if you're shopping online, start earlier than you think you need to.
If your budget allows, order two sizes so you can try them both on at home. This gives you plenty of time to decide what fits best without the panic of discovering three days before the wedding that your dress doesn't fit and you've somehow lost the return label (i have been guilty of this too)
We want this to be EASY and FUN
AND NOW FOR THE SHOES...
You need to be able to walk in them.
You need to be able to stand in them.
You need to be able to dance in them.
And ideally, you would quite like to still have feet by the end of the evening.
I have absolutely used Party Feet at weddings before.
If you're not used to wearing heels, don't suddenly decide the wedding is the perfect time to test-drive a pair of four-inch stilettos you've never worn before… also yes, im guilty of this.
Wear shoes you can actually enjoy yourself in.
Because I want to see you on that dance floor.
WHERE TO SHOP
We've pulled together some of our favourite brands below, that arent your typical go to's with different budgets, styles and silhouettes in mind to help give you some inspo. Also dont forget how EPIC Vinted , Vintageand second-hand is - we LOVE. Oh and hit those sales hard when they are on!

YOUR WEDDING GUEST CHECKLIST
Before you hit buy, ask yourself:
Does it fit the colour guidelines?
Is it colourful, fun and full of personality?
Is the shape appropriate for a wedding?
Can I actually move in it?
Can I sit down in it?
Can I dance in it?
Do I bloody LOVE it?
If the answer is yes...
YOU'RE GOOD TO GO.
MOST IMPORTANTLY...
Please remember that this guide is here to make your life easier, not to make choosing your outfit feel like homework.
We have put all of this together because we want you to feel confident when you're shopping and know exactly what we're looking for when we say colourful, high energy, statement and fun.
But ultimately, we want you to feel like YOU.
We want you to look in the mirror, feel fabulous and think:
“Yep. This is it.”
So have fun with it. Try something you wouldn't normally choose. Play with colour. Get your sparkle on. Try the jumpsuit. Wear the amazing earrings.
We absolutely cannot wait to see what you all choose and, most importantly, see you looking fabulous and dancing your socks off as we celebrate Tash and Connor.
If you get stuck, have found something you're unsure about or just want a second opinion, give me a shout.
I’m very happy to help.
Now go forth and find the ‘fit
Big love,
Sian x
