My sale highlights

Sian-18.jpg

Last week I shared my top 10 tips for online sale shopping with you (if you missed it you can find it here) Lucky for us there are still amazing sales happening in my fave independent boutiques in London. With prices up to 70% off, this is when we can stock up on some of our favourite styles that suit our body shapes and reflect our personalities. Plus, it would be rude of us not to, right?!

My three fave boutiques in London stock everything from essential wardrobe basics to bang-on-trend pieces. What better way to begin lockdown 3 and support female-founded and independent businesses?! We can now get excited about matching our slippers to our fancy new outfits! Just keep in mind that some pieces have already sold out, so act fast!!

Also, in case you didn’t realise, all of my blogs are written and curated by me, so everything I say and advise truly comes from within! I’d like to introduce you to my go-to independently run stores in London. Each shop you can buy from online and I know hand on heart that each order they receive brings them huge amounts of joy (and probably some much-needed relief at the mo!)

Studio B

I have followed Studio B for as long as I have been a stylist. I feel as though I know Bethany although I have never met her IRL! I am obsessed with her stunning online selection of pieces from authentic makers and independent labels; Bethany takes the time to discover their stories and getting to know how they produce. I love how she writes and comes across. I mean read this quote from her website…

‘I see something special as finding something different, whilst still being simultaneously attainable. The feeling of your heart racing seeing something you love, to the thrill of discovering you can achieve it! Yes, I might spend extra, yes, I might buy less throwaway “stuff” to get it, but that special feeling is worth so much more.

I mean… I can’t think of a reason not to shop the Studio B sale now… can you?!

Feather and Stitch, Richmond

The reason I discovered the exquisite Feather and stitch is through an interview I had way back when I had just started my styling career. There is actually a very funny/humbling story behind it, one I will share another time (feel free to ask me about it at any time though!) FS is based in gorgeous, Richmond and founder, Fiona’s, mission is to help customers find their own individual style. FS delivers next-level shopping experience even for their online customers, they offer styling advice via email or phone, with a free UK delivery service plus next day delivery, store collection, and international options. Fiona stocks Danish, British, and gorgeous European brands and regularly shows us how to wear them over on her inspiring insta!

White feather Boutique, Herne Hill, SE London

You have probably seen a lot of my latest content has come from White Feather. I met Sheena just before Christmas and gasped with pure joy at her wonderful collection of brands and accessories. WF specialise in bringing stylish trends to meet the needs of all women which is such a gorgeous outlook.
Personal service is key to their philosophy and they get to know their clients who return time and again in the confidence knowing that they can find the right piece whatever the occasion.
Sheena handpicks key pieces from a wide range of brands not found anywhere else in South London and specialises in the super stylish Scandi brands that have taken the fashion world by storm. Check out her insta here. WF offers FREE shipping and even a click and collect service!

So, here are my sale highlights…

My one-piece highlights…

The definition of quick and easy dressing, dresses, and jumpsuits makes our lives that bit easier because we don’t have to think ‘what will go with this’ We can zip it up and go. They are the easiest pieces for versatility (dressing up or down) and can ooze femininity. If that’s not your style though, pop on a biker boot and leather jacket and you’re good to go. Dresses form the base of your outfit if they are dark or plain based simply add a belt for some colour or print as well as waist cinching and knitwear and tights for warmth and you are sorted in minutes.

My Knitwear Highlights

The key to staying cosy this winter. Knitwear can be hard to get right and when its worn incorrectly, sadly it can really throw off your whole outfit. The trick here is to not drown your shape it knit which is hard when all we want to do is stay warm and hibernate. People also forget that you can layer jumpers over dresses, jumpsuits, and skirts as well as our trusty go to jeans. When you are layering over pretty much anything, cinch your knit in with a belt, or pin it at your waist so it looks cropped or even tuck it in under your bra (don’t if you are really busty and need the support though!!) Avoid chunky knits if you feel they bulk you out too much on top and opt for a finer knit, preferably with a v or open neckline to break up the look of bold shoulders. Admittedly they are harder to find so stay patient whilst searching (or get me to do it for you!)

My bottom half highlights

Getting the right style and length of bottoms can cause havoc with confidence. Once you find out your body shape and style personality though it becomes so much easier. As a general rule, I’d recommend high waisted options for pretty much everyone. Having a mix of different textures, colours and plain and printed bottoms means you can really play and experiment with everything in your wardrobe. Remember, rules are made to be broken. The only time I’d recommend to keep your bottom half darker/plainer is if you are pear shaped (but you can go wild on top and other shapes cant)

My Top highlights

Now more essential than ever with waist up dressing for zoom calls. A little bit of detail now goes an even longer way and will make such an impact on your Zoom calls when everyone is wearing black, grey and navy…maybe some neutral tones if they are feeling wild. Understanding the psychology behind colour is so beneficial to your energy and focus levels as well as the people around you. If you like to find out more check out my 2 part blog series on colour here. Make sure you know which tones of hue work for you too so is everyone focusing on your gorgeous face and smile rather than the top you are wearing. Bear in mind the wrong neckline can ruin your outfit… a big statement but so very true, sadly shoes can too but luckily no one can see our slippers at the mo!

My Jackets Highlights

Blazers are a capsule wardrobe essential and key for layering. I recommend having both a plain and a block colour because you can clash your prints as well as keeping is sleek and polished with a block hue. Awesome for updating your jeans but also stunning over some knitwear layered over a dress. Be wary of the best length for yourself though although big, oversized blazers are a huge trend at the mo, I personally don’t think its particularly flattering for most of us. Sales are the best time to invest is cosy coats like this teddy bear one and the stunning check coat is perfect for our daily walk to inject some colour and update our coats.

My 4 absolute highlights of the sales

You are all going to go ‘oh course these are Sian’s fave but they are so impractical and I’ll never wear them right now…’ I DISAGREE. Metallics can be worn ALL year round, (metallics glisten in the sunshine) layer them up now and cause a stir in Sainsburys! Or wear them for your Friday and Saturday night kitchen disco or Zooms with your girls. I hand on heart know your girls would love them. Id also wear the feather bottom pair with converse, a plain T and a denim jacket when it’s warm enough! I think they would look great under a cosy coat and obvs some clashing knitwear! (or plain if that’s your game!) Plusx, when we can leave the house again, I have a feeling people will want to dress up to the nines!

Trust your gut instinct, enjoy the experience of independent shopping, and get in touch if you have any questions, Id love to hear from you!
