Us humans are super resilient and so adaptable with change and we must remember that… even when it comes to things like shopping. We are well and truly in the mid-season Summer sale; can you believe it? I know I certainly can’t! Also, I can’t get my head around the fact that the last time I was in a shop was MARCH. So, its time for you to NAIL the secret to online sale shopping. I’m talking treating yourself to the high quality wardrobe staples we cant quite justify at full price.
We have been through SO MUCH the past three months. From my personal experience, I have been an emotional roller-coaster. Adapting my business to help you in the same way virtually has really opened my eyes up to thinking in new ways and its been a huge learning curve. Its also kept me sane knowing I can still offer a service that lifts you up and helps you look and feel fantastic.
I have four key pointers to start you off and help you get into the zone with your online shopping
1. A positive outlook – none of this ‘I hate shopping, I’m rubbish at it, I can’t find it’ malarkey – take your time over it (you don’t have to order everything straight away – take a few days if you need too there’s no pressure) Enjoy learning and discovering new brands – I promise you it is FUN and no one knows your taste and style more than you (well… unless you are a personal stylist haha) Read reviews about them too, it can help you get a feeling for the company.
2. Research – Normally I hate research but when it comes to searching for outfits or developing a new style, the internet makes it so easy and enjoyable. Start a Pinterest board (or check out my Pinterest to start off with) and collect lots of ideas and save them. You will notice you’ll save similar items and that is the beginning of understanding your own personals style. Then you write a shopping list of the items you love but don’t own yet.
3. Brand knowledge – Having an understanding which brands work for you eradicates ordering poor-fitting clothing that makes you think it’s your fault they do not fit when actually, it’s just not the brand for you. Knowledge is power here! Plus waiting for new clothes in the post should be EXCITING. I take my hat off to all the amazing delivery services at the moment. Bringing us pockets of joy within all this madness.
4. Planning - Knowing what you need and what styles suit your figure when browsing means you can use the filters on all shopping platforms so that you are not immediately overwhelmed by choice. Remember, its quality over quantity.The only time I buy from stores that have a high turn over for designs, e.g HM or Zara is when I fall in love with a current trend rather than a classic trend that you know you will love and wear for many years ahead. For example, I’m obsessed with the puff sleeves on dresses and tops at the moment. I cant get enough of them BUT I’m not sure I will love them in a years time.
I invested in my newest jumpsuit and polka dress from Kitri as I know I will love them forever. My puff sleeve orange printed blouse, I purchased from HM just to see how much wear I get from it. If im still loving it next year then I know I can buy better quality when I need its replacement. Also, keep in mind that the item has three outfits it completes/works with/updates, so it doesn’t get lost in your wardrobe and forgotten about.
